Antares (formerly QIC Global), the international specialty insurance and reinsurance subsidiary of Qatar Insurance Group, today announces the appointment of Stewart Smith as business development officer, effective immediately. Smith joins Antares at Group level and will be based in London, reporting directly to Michael van der Straaten, CEO of Antares.

Smith will work across all Antares entities to help each identify new areas of opportunity and increase efficiency. Having worked in the London market for more than 40 years, Smith brings a wealth of industry experience to Antares. He has held senior roles at several large brokerages, including Aon and Willis Re, and he joins Antares from McGill and Partners where he was a partner.
